The Brief

To take portraits of another student and self portraits in differing styles, one in the style of another photographer, taking into account framing, cropping, colour balance, viewpoint, lighting and setting/props.

Proposal

I am going to take three photographs of students in different styles, one in the style of another photography, and one self portrait conveying my personality.

Research

Before taking the photographs, I researched other photographers' work to give me an idea of the styles of photographs I would be taking.

I used Google to find portraiture sites and a few sites caught my attention: Venture, Kodak and Barrie Downie Photography.

Final Photographs

Review

I am satisfied with my final photographs and feel that I have successfully experimented with composition and lighting. I used natural lighting in my photographs rather than the camera's flash to make them look more professional; however, if I were to carry out this project again, I would use the photography studio to experiment more with lighting. In future, to improve the photographs, the project could also be carried out on a sunny day to give the pictures a softer lighting effect.
