When I was informed about these tasks I decided to chose the option of promoting myself as a web designer, writing my ethics essay on 'should games companies take responsibility for their players' and also writing a weekly log book.
For my promotional work I felt that I should create a website which showed off my portfolio of work. I also felt that merchandising would be a good idea of promoting myself and getting my name out in the real world. I researched a lot of websites such as ngenworks.com and amazeelabs.com, these two stood out for me as they showed what was needed on a portfolio website and how I should go about layout/design/content. My ethics essay was based on my knowledge of gaming as I feel I know what has been occuring recently within the games industry. I felt that researching websites such as BBC and Sky News would help me get an idea of what else would need to be added.
When concluding this project I was generally happy with all of my work. I felt that my website sent the right information out to the viewer and also my t-shirt/stickers helped spread my name around a lot more as well. I felt my ethics essay went quite well but it lacked a lot of Harvard Referencing which I feel cost myself a lot of marks, but next time I will be aware of this. Finally I felt that my log book had the right information as it gave a short but effective explanation of what happened in my CATs lessons throughout the year.
