For this task we had to produce a gallery website to showcase thematic original visual work using Php/Mysql.

When we were informed about this task I had to plan what kind of thematic gallery website I was going to produce. I felt that using my own photography would be a good idea. I had other ideas such as advertising a friends art work or photographs but I chose to use my own work as I felt I could relate to this a lot more.

For this task I looked at websites such as FacebookGoogleMyspace and HMV as all of these websites have their own use of Php/Mysql. Php/Mysql was a vital part of this website so I had to understand what sort of websites I would be dealing with. Obviously my website was going to be nowhere near as complex as these but it had to run a Mysql database through Php coding. These websites all had different sorts of Php, Google had its own search engine which had a wildcard function which would help the user when trying to find a certain thing, Facebook and Myspace had the image uploader which lets anyone who has an active account with these websites upload there very own images within the file size staed by the website, and HMV has its own add to cart function which makes mathematic calculations and lets a user purchase items online. My aim was to at least produce a website that had a working image viewer which went from thumbnails to large photographs.

When concluding this project I felt quite happy with the overall outcome. The website I feel could of had a lot more CSS and also maybe a bit more Php but after struggling at the start it was hard to add much more than what I did.
