When I was informed about this task I had two ideas on what kind of website to do, my first idea was to do a notional client. The idea I had for this was to produce a banking website. When planning this website I looked on a lot of banking websites and I felt due to this it would be more complex than needed so I changed my idea to my second website idea which was a hair salon called The Hair Shop by Eileen. This is a family business which my mother works for so I felt I would be able to obtain the right information and other things such as images, price lists etc.
For this task I looked at a lot of hairdressing websites such as Mark Hill, Toni & Guy and Colour Loungeas I felt this would help me with the layout/design of my website. I already had my ideas of which pages I was going to add to my website, it was just having the right idea of how to position the text and images. I also researched how a lot of the colour schemes were on these websites and adding this to my ideas.
I used the book Don't Make Me Think by author Steve Krug to help me when creating my client website, I felt that this sentence was important for when I come up with creating a website in the future. On chapter one, page fourteen, paragraph five, Krug says "another needless source of question marks over people's heads is links and buttons that aren't obviously clickable. As a user, I should never have to devote a millisecond of thought to whether things are clickable-or not." This will help in the future as I will try my best to make it easier for the user when looking for links.
When concluding this project I felt that I created a consistent website and it met its purpose which was very important. All of the images used in the website were taken by myself and all of the content in the website is 100% accurate as I gathered this information from staff and the owners. All of the links work which was important when completing the website as it had to relate to the consistency of the layout as well.
