When we were informed about this task I intially came up with ideas of what kind of video we should do as a group. As we brainstormed we all came up with relatively the same idea. We felt that from our own knowledge that comedy or something a little bit more serious like a documentary would be the best sort of video that we could do as a group.
When we looked at the options of doing a comedy we felt that doing a comedy is usually better over a long period of time and the 3 minutes that we had to use seemed a little bit short to use comedy sort of documentary. We went with the idea that Chris Dunn came up with, as he was running the London Marathon within weeks and we felt that this could be something that would be good to video as a documentary. As a group we came up with the idea of videoing Chris training before the London Marathon in venues around Hull and also filming Chris running the marathon and completing the marathon. This would act as the beginning, middle and end.
For this task we researched Eddie Izzard's Marathon Man documentary and we felt that this was relavent to what we were trying to do for our documentary. We looked at the camera angles used with such things as focusing on the runners legs, the runners facial expression and the scenery that was used when filming as well.
When concluding this project I felt as a group we worked well and all contributed in our own way. We filmed in East Park as we felt that this would show the training well as it has fantastic scenery, we also used the camera angles that we researched whilst we were filming in East Park. Chris also filmed his facial expression whilst running the London Marathon and also showed the happiness when Chris completed the marathon.
