One Minute Video

The Brief! You are required to design and build a website for a real or notional client. In cases where the site is large, it is acceptable to create a well-developed working prototype, which gives a clear indication of the content, structure, navigation and interface design of the final site.

My Proposal, For my client site I have chosen to make a site for a fictional cocktail bar. After reading "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug, I have a good understanding of navigation. I plan to use a colour scheme on my site so that frequent can familiarize where they are just by the colour. Also I plan to use pictures and arrows for people who may be colour blind.

Research, To create a site with good navigation and usability I read "Don't Make Me Think" by Steve Krug." colour coding is a good idea-as long as you don't count on everyone noticing it. Some people (roughly 1 out of 200 women and 1 out of 12 men - particularly over the age of 40) simply can't detect some colour distinctions," (chapter 6, page 83.) After reading this I also looked into how disability can effect web usability, "www.bbc.co.uk/health."I decided to add a tagline to each page to get my message across of the pages description and purpose. Steven Krug "Don't Make Me Think " Taglines are a very efficient way to get your message across, because they're the one place on the page where users most expect to find a concise statement of the site's purpose." (chapter 7, page 104.)

Thoughts? I am very pleased of my site. This has really opened my to the layout and navigation to a site. Now i do feel like i could improve a lot on the CSS. This website has also made me think about alinement and how a page need to be tidy. Looking at this site i have now learned that content placement is key.
