Brief
The unit examines the conventions relating to the way in which pictorial and textual information are read and understood. It looks at how much interactive multimedia relies heavily on these conventions.
The unit considers the suitability of applying the metaphor of a traditional medium to a new digital medium, against the freedom that new medium may allow. Issues such as functionality, audience targeting and suitability, and the relationship between image, text and sound, are all examined.
The unit builds an awareness of the significance of visual interfaces and of the interaction process, and an understanding of the problems and potential of interaction.
Ideas
I decided to create an interactive guitar chord finder for this project, an application that will help all levels of guitar player find out how to play certain chords. Using colour coordinated dots the user will know which finger goes on each fret to make each chord.
There will also be a recording of each chord so the user knows what its supposed to sound like.
The work will primarily be done in flash however image production will be done in photoshop and sound recording will be done in audition.

Given more time to work on this project i wouldve liked to have had time to work on left handed guitar player support, added animation to the fretboard and possibly incuded support for the other types of chord or instruments with a different number of strings.
