Professional Practice INT3046
We were instructed as a group to produce a website to showcase all of our final major projects. We also had to create a show reel to display at our degree show. We also had to organise our degree show and raise funds for it. We also had to produce a personal showcase website and update our university portfolio.
We split up into groups and each person was given different tasks. I was given the task of marketing the degree show.
During the period coming up to the degree show I attended lots of different digitally related gatherings. This helped me spread the word about the degree show and invite a few important people. I also built a relationship with the founder of Hull Digital who kindly offered to help me promote the event.
I did not really have to do a lot of planning for my task but I did plan to really market the event 2 weeks before the actual date. I thought this was about the right time to do this as there was less chance people would not forget about the event.
All of the stuff the group produced as a whole can be seen at the following links.
The marketing I did for the event went really well and I could see from the Google Analytics. After I got Hull Digital and Humber Mud to send a PR email out we received 80 unique hits to the website.
When it came to updating our university portfolio I decided to spend more time on my showcase website as this is the website I would be displaying on my CV.I did however create a new design for my university website and choose to keep it simple and easy to navigate to my three years work.
