Photography project
Photography essay
Brief
The aim of this project was to take ten to fifteen photographs that either: educate, inform, narrate or entertain. It was our choice of what the subject was to be, as long as we showed experimentation of manual settings on the camera.
Proposal
For my project I chose to stick to a theme of reflections. I gave each subject a blank sheet of paper and a marker, and asked them to write how they felt beneath their external features. Thus showing how the way a person comes across through attitude or dress sense doesn’t necessarily reflect how they feel on the inside. I also let each subject choose the location of the photograph, so that the background complimented the emotion on the paper.
Research
The main artist/photographer I chose to look at was Gillian Wearing. She’s done photos in a similar style, only aimed at more specific people, such as lawyers and housewives.
Planning
Before I was able to choose my theme I had to make a spider diagram of ideas. Once I had found a theme I felt really enthusiastic towards, I had to start figuring out how I would go about achieving my desired outcome. As a major priority toward my planning, I needed to find people willing to take part. I figured it would be an easy task, but most people don’t tend to open up as soon as they’re asked
Outcome
Below are my final photographs edited on Adobe Photoshop:
