SELF INITIATED PROJECT - WEEK ONE
WEEKS COVERAGE
This week we began brain storming ideas for our self-initiated project. The idea for this module was to develop this chosen idea into a full product within the higher of your ability and skills.
MAIN IDEA
Before the holidays we were told that we should come up with ideas for this project, so that it would help us plan ahead more and give us more of a kickstart when it came back round to uni. With that in mind i came up with an idea that i wanted to do within that holiday perioid, my idea is as follows:-
Story
The Story for my game is still not 100$ decided, the game tends to feed on gameplay elements rather than the actual Story. The game is going to be involved around a dark mist chasing after the Hero as he has to battle his way through the levels, if he fails to do so, all hope will be lost, so there is a basic concept of the story but as of yet this is still in development.
Gameplay/Mechanics
In game, the Hero will continue to walk forward across the level, battling his way through enemies by default, whilst you are in charge of interacting with the enviroment using the power of Gods Hands. At the bottom of your screen will be a GUI area that allows you to choose from a numerous amount of hand interactions to mess with and affect the environment in which the Hero must pass through, you must use these hands to help the Hero get through the level as soon as possible, the quicker you make the safer route for the Hero the more bonus points you will get.
The hands you can use and their functions are as follows:-
Grab
If there's an object you need to pick up and move such as a fallen tree, use this to do so, then place it where it needs to be to assist the Hero across the level.
Squeeze
Squeeze is intended for clouds, if there is a fire below the cloud, you must use this to squeeze the cloud to produce the water needed to put out the fire.
Poke
If there's a cliff and you need to get down to the bottom of it to continue, use the poke hand to turn the Cliffside into a Staircase
Flick
If there's a tree in the way, use flick to knock it down and clear the path. It may also help you find an object to help you get further in the level, e.g. tree = bridge
Karate Chop
If there is a river of water, this will solve the problem by temporarily splitting the sea, ocean, river etc.
