Basecamp
As part of the project we documentated our progress using basecamp.
For our client related practice module we were asked to produce a portal website which would house information regarding the creative and digital sector within Hull. As this was a website which had not already been launched we had to begin with creating a brand identity and design for the website. With this in mind, and with the help of Sally Bell, we assigned jobs to one another based on our strengths and weaknesses.
As part of the design group myself, Claire Anthony and Sarah Imeson were asked to produce a suitable design for the website which would appeal to the target audience. Liam Smith and Sam Scott took responsibility for the back end of the website, designing and coding a content management system which would allow the clients to dynamically change information seen on the website.
I believe the project went well and we worked successfully as a group in order to structure the workload. Communication within the group could have been improved, due to a few group members including myself being unable to attend some group meetings, changes to the design were not communicated effectively. I believe I was to blame for this miscommunication but plan to improve this for other projects going forward.
It was an interesting experience working with a live client, Hayley and Julie were both a pleasure to work with. However, pleasant as they both were I felt there was maybe times when they could have been more critical about our work or given us more feedback. I found them very easy to please, and sometimes it was quite difficult to understand what they were asking for us to do, for example, in regards to the content of the website. I believe as a group we all acted professionally in our manner towards the client and produced a website which they were all happy with. In our manner towards the client.
