Overview of the game

The game is based around a huge enemy appearing on earth slowly taking over parts of the world, he is split up into 5 parts Element, the head is made of crystal and impossible to injure by sword attacks. The other elements are taking over different parts of the world your job is to stop them all individually, before all 4 corners of the world are lava pits, ice caves etc.

Good Characters

Acacia – Is the main character, his strong will to protect the innocent make him able to achieve any goal he wishes. He carries a sword passed down to him from centuries of ancestors.

Sion – Is the younger version of Acacia, he has the same strong will and hopes to one day make a difference to the world. He carries a sword and a gun. The gun is used to find opponents weak spots and the sword is used to hack and slash at any defence they may have.

Ryun – Is an older character, however he may be much older he is also much faster however he isn’t a very social character and won’t hang around for long, he comes mainly when you are struggling or in danger.

Carmah – Is one of the monsters that Acacia can call for help from this monster will take how many monsters you have slain and double the damage, this damage will be taken off the enemy.

Aretha – Is the female character in the story she is normally the one finding trouble, and whilst she tries to solve it she ends up in more trouble than what would have been in the first place.

Bad Characters

Element- Is the head and torso of the enemy, he can only be damaged by physical attacks, by a sword or by special attacks.

Fyre- Fyre is the left arm of element, he casts fire attacks to damage the character and fire attacks cannot harm him. He is made up of fire and getting close will damage you, so physical attacks will damage him, but at a price. Ice attacks are his weakness.

Iyce- Iyce is the right arm of element, he uses his ice attacks to slow the enemy down and freeze him, fire attacks are his biggest weakness and will critically damage him. Physical attacks may damage characters weapons.

Wynd- Wynd is the left foot of element and will keep the enemy pushed away, physical attacks are almost impossible and earth based attacks are useless, however surrounding the enemy is the only way to get close.

Eyrth- Eyrth is the heavy right foot of element, and stomps the ground to cause a tremor, which can easily knock over and severely damage your characters, Eyrth can also control a lot of plantation and this can constrict your characters, slowly draining life. Fire is his weakness, and will kill plantation almost instantly with the weakest of attacks.

Setting of the game

The game is set in Heartreath a small country on the planet Areth. The game is very mountainous but they are very green with a lot of plants and small villages.

Look and feel graphics

The graphics should be fully immersive worlds with 3D landscapes and stunning visuals, to really make the player say wow. Some ideas of great visuals that would inspire would be from “Final Fantasy X”.

Control System

The game will be controlled like any RPG game, on a world map with battle been triggered unknowingly. There will be key boss battles which may give you the option to save prior to entering the fight.

Combat System

For the combat system I decided to try and take it one step further in my finished project. I used a video from a fight in “Final Fantasy: Advent Children” and put buttons towards it, when you pressed these buttons it lead to the next attack if you didn’t hit the combination of buttons correctly it lead to loss in health.

The idea of this came to me from games like “Guitar Hero when you have to press buttons to get points, it is also similar to “Shenmue” and in the fully designed version I would like it to lead to different actions depending on if you didn’t execute a combination correctly or on time.

There will still be the same click to attack but these attacks can be mixed together so when you go to attack, the enemy doesn’t just stand there, they fight back. This then goes into the part shown in the concept design where two characters battle it out, they both have 3 lives and when the animation ends the damage is dealt out in ratio to lives remaining.

For the VS mode the mode I designed I thought it would be a nice twist on the whole RPG game style where it is normally one player. However I thought a VS mode would be a nice new game mode. Where the players can take it in turns to press buttons and the other character has to copy that combo. This would be done by registering the first 3 buttons the player presses and giving the other character time to press them so that someone doesn’t just press a load of buttons all at once making it impossible for the other player. This could then increase to 4 then 5 buttons and the time limit could get shorter.

Inventory system

The inventory system should be simple to use, I think games where you have to limit your inventory are better so only been able to carry a limited amount of items like in “Diablo” brought into a turn based RPG game I think would be better. Although it’s easier to keep the best weapons for each character, if each character has different traits with a weapon then it would make it harder to decide which weapons you want to get rid of. Maybe one character is good with a long sword and another character is better with two.

Goal of the game

The goal of the game is clearly to complete the story mode but like in “Soul Caliber” as you complete the game you unlock more weapons for VS mode and I think this would be a good way to play an RPG game with friends allowing you better customisation of your character.
