Interactive Environments
Brief:
You are going to create an interactive installation using the BBC Big Screen as a display platform. The theme for the content of the installation fits in with the BBC’s ongoing campaign of ‘Breathing Places’ and in particular focuses on ‘growing things’.
Directions & Considerations:
Interaction should feature heavily in your response to this brief and, considering the available options for interaction with the Big Screen you need to investigate the approaches to capture the interactions of passers by who are your main target audience. An additional target audience of web-users is also something to take into account when deciding the direction your response will take.
Part of the consideration for this module (and this brief) is to take into account the actual environment in which you are displaying your project. Give some thought to the following:
•How to attract passers by
•Scope for making an event out your finished piece
•Will people be scared to try something new and how you can alleviate this?
•The pros and cons of passive interaction as a means
This is a group project so communication and project logging should be conducted accordingly. You will need to create a group blog and this will form part of your submission for this module.
There are many considerations and some limitations when producing work that is to be broadcast on the BBC Big Screen. A full introduction of how the screen works, limitations & considerations and display event details will be given during the early stages of this brief.
