Semester Six

Unit Brief

The module initiates a greater understanding of preparation for industry and professional practice. It develops interpersonal and presentation skills, facilitating the student to promote and market her or himself in a professional and competitive way in preparation for employment or further study, both individually and in a group situation.

Proposal

As a group, we proposed to plan and then host a five day event which would serve to present ourselves in a professional manner, in from of the general public, allowing them to discover first hand what our projects did and how they came from idea to final piece.

Research

For research we looked at past Hull School of Art & Design degree shows and others online, then we took various aspects we liked and added to it in order to create a new experience from the past years degree shows.

Planning

The planning involved splitting the group up into different areas (branding, website and showreel)...I was elected as leader of the showreel team. There were roughly 5 members in each group. We all had to participate in setting up the rooms for the show also. I produced a short intro clip for the showreel, but unfortunately because of differing file formats and tight time schedules the clip was not included in the final showreel.

Evaluation

Overall, I enjoyed working with group on the degree show, the group worked well together and as a result of this the night was a huge success.
